Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cyclon
If you are going to play BigPoint's battlestar galactica games, you first need to decide whether you are going to side with the humans or the cylons. To some, this may seem like a simple decision, but it is anything but easy.
For the unfortunate souls who have not watched Battlestar Galactica, here's what you need to know first: Somewhere, in our massive galaxy, there is a small group of humans living on a group of planets called the Twelve Colonies. Life on the Twelve Colonies would be nice if not for the cylons, a robot civilization intent on destroying the entire human race.
Obviously, the cylons are the antagonists of the Battlestar Galactica series, but that doesn't mean you can't make a little foray into the dark side. There are also plenty of advantages to playing the galactica game as a human. To help you decide which side to take, check out the cylon vs. human comparison below.
Humans
The main reason to be a human in the Galactica game is simple: as a human, you'll be better prepared to relate to other humans, as opposed to an evil robot race. Sure, it may be just a game, but do you really want even the imaginary possibility of defeat by a bunch of robots?
The main advantage humans have over cylons is the ability to think outside the box. This can be helpful when it comes to flight and battle tactics. The cylons may be talented in computer science, but they lack the creativity to come up with truly revolutionary moves.
As a human playing the Battlestar Galactica games, you'll get to fly a sweet colonial viper. These powerful space crafts are capable of flying both in space and in the atmosphere. Their main weapon against the cyclon raiders are lasers. If you've ever wanted to fly a spaceship and shoot lasers at bad guys, you are fit to play human in Battlestar Galactica.
Cylons
The name cylon is actually an abbreviation for Cybernetic Lifeform Node. These robotic creatures are smarter and more technologically savvy than humans. However, they are less creative and their thinking is more linear. Still, if you don't know what you're doing, sometimes sheer computer science genius can be a major advantage.
If you're a humanoid cylon, you won't just be a cylon. You'll also have the appearance, flesh and blood of a real human. So in essence, you'll get to kill two birds with one stone.
As a cylon, you'll be piloting a cylon raider. The spacecraft is cooler looking than the humans' colonial vipers. The colonial viper may be a powerful spacecraft, but with a little prowess, you can easily match the viper's power with a raider.
The choice between cylon and human comes down to intelligence versus creativity. If you like being a genius, you'll make a great cylon. On the other hand, creative types may prefer to remain human. |
